What Lack I Yet Come Follow Me lesson helps

Come Follow Me Study Help: What Lack I Yet?

I've talked before about the Come Follow Me program and how much I truly love it! I have really found some good study helps that have made my scripture time so much more productive. If you haven't already read my post with tips for better scripture study, you can flip on over to that one here.

One of the reasons I wanted to start this blog was so that I could pass along some of the Come Follow Me study helps that I have found. I'd also like to share some of my own. Looking back at my life and my history of scripture study, I realize that the biggest reason why I didn't do it like I should is that I just didn't know how. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The biggest thing I want to pass on for your Come Follow Me study is that it is supposed to be SIMPLE.

SIMPLE is the name of the game! If you go looking for information about how to study better, how to do Family Home Evening better, how to teach your kids better... chances are good you're going to overwhelm yourself pretty quickly.

I pretty much covered all the tips I have to make your scripture study productive in my 12 Tips for Better Scripture Study post, but I want to list just a few small hints here.

Important things to have in front of you before you begin:

  • The Come Follow Me manual
  • Your scriptures (well, duh!)
  • Something to take notes on
  • Pens or Pencils

I also like to print out the talks that go with the lesson, plus I have a couple of books that I use with my study as reference as well:

The New Testament Made Easier by David Ridges

Unlocking the New Testament by Richard J. Allen

On Taking Notes...

When I first started taking notes, I found that I was kind of all over the place. There was no method to what I was doing. My Come Follow Me study really improved when I worked out a system. That's how I came to create these printables that I use with each lesson.

I like to address the specific questions asked in the lesson, and it helps me to have an organized place to do it. If you'd like a copy of the printables that go with this lesson, you can find them in the section of my store called FREEBIES!

I also like to print out the talks that go with the lesson as well. I like to print them with a wide margin and a note taking box on the side of each page so there is plenty of room for note taking, cross referencing or doodling!

I hope these things will help with your Come Follow Me study this week! If you have any feedback, I'd love for you to drop a note in the comments. If you're a few weeks behind, I also have the last couple of weeks printables available in the shop where you find Freebies!
